Sachi came to this work through her own health journey, one that began when she was nine years old and first diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. She is also from a lineage of Indian healers and doctors and has been imbued in both Eastern tradition and Western medicine since childhood. After years of switching back and forth between these two systems—one for mind, the other for body—Sachi began to marry the wisdom of both, blending Ayurvedic principles and yogic philosophy with physiology and functional nutrition to better understand her unique mind-body composition, and ultimately, reclaim agency for her own health.
Sachi is now an Ayurvedic practitioner, yoga teacher and tea maker, and in 2015, she founded Elemental Alchemy to support others looking for a sustainable approach to holistic health. By encouraging individuals to invite a sense of childlike curiosity and wonder into a guided process of self-exploration, Sachi hopes to shift the experience of health and healing from one of comparison and judgement to one that fosters self-awareness, joy and mind-body harmony. In utilizing both ancient techniques to reconnect with natural rhythms and practical tools to manage time and energy, her hope is to honor her tradition while meeting people where they are with non-judgement, support and warmth.
In a past (job) life, Sachi worked in development and holds a Msc from the London School of Economics. She is a board member of the Prison Yoga Project—an organization committed to prisoner rehabilitation and decreased recidivism through yoga and mindfulness programs—and serves as an ambassador for Yoga Gives Back, a non-profit that raises funds within the US yoga community to support microcredit programs for women in India.
In oneself lies the whole world and if you know how to look and learn, the door is there and the key is in your hand. Nobody on earth can give you either the key or the door to open, both are yours and yours alone. — Krishnamurti
